DESCRIPTION:Learn how to catch a crawdad or net other critters during the Great Mohican Crawdad Hunt at Mohican State Park. This free event will be co-hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Scenic Rivers Program and Mohican State Park.Visitors will be able to learn skills from experienced river guides as they explore the unique beauty and wildlife offered by the Clear Fork Mohican State Scenic River. Race crawdads with Roger Thoma\, author of A Naturalist’s Guide to the Crawfish of Ohio. Learn the life history of this Ohio animal that is related to the lobster. Enjoy a savory crawfish boil and explore fun educational activities with Ashland Soil & Water Conservation District. Event details are as follows: \n\n\n\n*The event will be held at the Class A Shelter House. Once entering the park\, follow signs to the event. Please pre-register with state park naturalist Kyle Casey at Kyle.Casey@dnr.ohio.gov. Signed copies of A Naturalist’s Guide to the Crawfish of Ohio will be available for purchase by cash\, check or Venmo. Attendees should wear closed toed shoes to explore in the water with staff. The Mohican River\, including the lower stem of the Clear Fork\, was designated as a State Scenic River in 2006 because of its exceptional water quality\, which it maintains in part due to the tree coverage alongside the river. Trees filter water\, provide flood control\, keep the water cool\, and provide habitat for animals that use the river. The Mohican River is also a popular destination for anglers\, paddlers and hikers. DESCRIPTION:River Kayak\, Mountain Bike\, Trail Run \n\n\n\nOMBC Series #7 \n\n\n\nThis Family Friendly MINI Triathlon adventure begins and ends at Mohican Adventures with your choice of SOLO\, DUO and Three-Person Teams. In the kayak portion of the event\, paddlers will be bussed from the staging area to the start of the race in nearby Perrysville before beginning a 6-mile kayak along the scenic Mohican River toward Mohican Adventures in Loudonville. Off the river\, racers transition at the staging area parking lot and roll out on Mountain Bikes following a 5.6-mile single track loop in the Mohican State Park back to the staging area at Mohican Adventures where racers transition for the final stage\, a 6.6-mile trail run finishing at Mohican Adventures. \n\n\n\nALL Solo Racers earn OMBC Series Points \n\n\n\nSchedule of Events:  \n\n\n\nNo Race Day Registration \n\n\n\nPacket Pickup: 8am \n\n\n\nMandatory Pre-Race Meeting at Mohican Adventures: 9:00 Am followed by Bus Ride to Perrysville  \n\n\n\nRace Start in Perrysville: 10 Am \n\n\n\nAwards: ETA 2pm: or Immediately Following Race \n\n\n\nThe Course: \n\n\n\nStage One: Kayak River Paddle (6 miles) \n\n\n\nFollowing an included 15 minute bus ride from the staging area at Mohican Adventures to Perrysville race start\, the race will begin in the State Scenic Mohican River near Perrysville where racers will depart and travel about 6 miles downriver and through historic downtown Loudonville and on to the Mohican Adventures landing\, not far past the Wally Road bridge crossing and on the right. River conditions may vary but typically include mostly flat water with a few class 1 ripples. Sit atop Kayaks will be provided by Mohican Adventures. (No private kayaks allowed) Kayaks are included in the entry fee and will be located at the Perrysville race start. Mohican Adventures staff will be available to make sure everyone has a flotation device and assist\, if necessary\, with entering and exiting the kayaks.  All participants must carry/wear a PFD (life jacket) included with entry. Racers exiting their kayaks will then transition from Mohican Adventures landing to their nearby parked vehicles. Racers must walk their mountain bikes to and from the starting line. Safety FIRST!   \n\n\n\nStage Two: Mountain Bike Trail Ride (5.6 miles) \n\n\n\nRacers will depart from Mohican Adventures start/finish line\, following a short route that leads across a small stream and beneath SR3 up to the paved Bike Trail. Safety First\, NO SR3 ROAD CROSSING ALLOWED.  Racers will turn left on the paved bike trail toward a split sign that says\, “Runners Left/Mountain Bike Right”. Bikers will veer right and straight up onto the off-road trail following Mohican 100 Signage along what is known as the “Short Loop Trail”. Once around the short loop (5 miles)\, racers will follow signage returning to the paved bike trail then right\, underneath SR3 toward the finish line and next transition area. Once the line is crossed\, racers can exchange their leg anklets or transition to running shoes at their parked vehicle. Runners will turn right\, entering the park\, following Mohican 100 signs straight back until just before Mohican bridge crossing. Here runners will turn right then immediately left following the trail along the river toward the newly constructed suspension bridge spanning the Mohican River. Live animals and pony rides for the kids. Horses\, sheep\, goats\, rabbits\, chickens and more. Meet at the Parking lot area by Welcome Center. \n\n\n\n2p-4p – Grab that Axe- Axe throwing for adults Try your skill at axe throwing. SUMMARY:The 18th Century Colonial Trade Fair
DESCRIPTION:Remembering and honoring practices of times gone by continues to be a time honored and fun tradition. That is why the Wolf Creek Grist Mill is proud to be the location for this year’s 18th Century Colonial Trade Fair\, August 9th & 10th\, 10am-5pm. Preserving the past and having fun is what will be found during the fair. A professional storyteller will be around explaining indentured slavery of the 18th Century. Watch and learn as moccasin bags & other leather works will be made right in front of guests. Speaking of demonstrations\, a Colonial Militia Soldier will talk of life during that time and what is like in the militia. Bring the earplugs and watch the cannon be prepared for a firing demonstration. There will also be a mock battle on Saturday and Sunday. \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is $3.00\, but receive $1.00 off if you wear an 18th century costume. Amenities: Free Parking.
